BIOGRAPHY
Chandler Strange is an artist, illustrator, and flower grower whose original watercolor paintings and large-scale drawings are held in private collections and featured in exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad. Primarily a commissioned artist, she also shares her work more widely through illustrated cards, prints, and stationery—an extension of her belief that original art can live not only in galleries, but in everyday rituals and meaningful connection.
Chandler studied Fine Art and Photography at Pratt Institute and earned her undergraduate degree from Fordham University, where she majored in Art History with a minor in Theology. She further developed her technical foundation through classical drawing studies at the Grand Central Atelier. For over a decade, she worked with Delorenzo Gallery on Madison Avenue, a respected gallery specializing in Art Deco and important works of twentieth-century design and fine art.
Working primarily in watercolor and pencil, Chandler’s subjects center on flowers, nature, portraiture, and animal life. Her work is deeply informed by close observation, seasonality, and a lifelong connection to the natural world. She is also a published children’s book illustrator and photographer.After more than twenty years immersed in New York City’s art and fashion worlds, Chandler relocated to Durango, Colorado, where she lives with her family and tends both her studio practice and flower farm. The rhythms of cultivation, observation, and daily life continue to shape her work, grounding it in a sense of quiet wonder, intimacy, and reverence for the natural world.
